Listen up you lot, sounds like some of you are having a real problem with the bosses lately. Feeling disrespected, taken advantage of, all that madness. Well let me tell ya, as someone who’s been there – losing your cool will only make it worse.
Believe me, nothing sounds better in the moment than tearing that manager a new one. Give ’em a piece of your mind with both barrels! I’ve been tempted plenty of times. But it rarely ends well, and they always have more power at the end of the day. Keep your job, right?
So here’s what Coach Dan says – take the high ground. Kill ’em with kindness, if you can believe it. Smile through gritted teeth, say “I understand your perspective” without meaning it. Go for polite but short answers till you’re out of their sight line. Then you can scream into a pillow privately as much as you dang well please.
Most important – document everything from now on in an email chain. “Per our conversation, I understood the deadline to be X. Please clarify if this has changed.” CYA at all times. Might save your bacon later if they try any funny business.
Then start sprucing up the ol’ resume. Nothing lights a fire like a good application out there. Suddenly bosses remember your value real fast. And if not? Well then you’ve already got an exit strategy in place. Keep your chin up, stay classy, and remember – this too shall pass. The weekend is coming and they’ll still be stuck with each other. You’ve got this!
