Nothing will run the batteries down faster than a busy mind at bedtime. Day in, day out we fill our heads with thoughts about what’s coming next and what we should have done differently. It’s no wonder so many people lie awake wrestling with all that mental noise. The best thing I’ve found to shut it all off? Strap on those walking shoes and feel the fresh air work its magic.

Some of you are probably thinking “I’m too beat to even consider going outside right now”. Boshwa! All you need is 10 or 15 minutes to unwind your entire body. Forget all those meditation apps and yoga poses – nothing beats a simple walk after dark to unwind from a long day. Lace up and set out at a leisurely pace. Pay attention to each step and each breath. Look up from your phone for once and appreciate how the moonlight filters through the trees. Before you know it, the stress will be melting away and you’ll start to feel sleepy.

Guarantee you’ll sleep straight through the night. Give it a try tonight rather than tossing and turning for hours. One foot in front of the other – it’s a simple formula for forgettin’ your troubles and droppin’ off to sleep.
