Listen up folks! Time for some no-nonsense advice about unwinding before bedtime.
I know a lot of ya’ll think you gotta do some deep breathing or yoga poses or download another meditation app to relax. But sometimes the best thing is just zoning out in front of the tube or your phone for a little while. Now I ain’t saying spend all night binge watching shows or scrollin’ your life away. But if turning your brain off to some mindless entertainment for a half hour is what does the trick better than anything else, then do it!.
Who cares if it’s not the “healthiest” way to unwind. Nothin’ wrong with zoning out to some nice mindless screen time before hittin’ the hay. It’s sure as heck better than lyin’ there stressed out about your to-do list or work problems, right? At least if you zone out for a bit, odds are your brain will shut off and you’ll be able to fall asleep after.
The key is everything in moderation. Don’t do deep dives into social media or marathons of Netflix for hours on end. But if 30 minutes of vegetating in front of the boob tube is what it takes to de-stress you enough to sleep, then you do you. Don’t overthink relaxation, folks. Do whatever simple thing it takes to unwind your mind so you can get your zzz’s. That’s my no-nonsense advice for the night. Now relax and enjoy!
